The Stuart Hall Archive contains materials (photographs, certificates, drafts and typed copies of speeches) relating to the honorary degrees which Hall was awarded in the 1990s/2000s. Below are digitised recordings of several of the ceremonies at which these degrees were conferred, edited from the full recordings of each event which are held in the Stuart Hall Archive.

Those tasked with introducing Hall provide personal accounts of his unique teaching style and approach to collaboration (Goldsmiths), the import of his work to politics (Teesside) and education (Open University).

Hall thanks each of these universities for the award of an honorary degree with characteristic humour while offering, albeit briefly, his thoughts on subjects such as the history of cultural studies (Birmingham), the need to strengthen the NHS and provision of free medical care (Birmingham), the importance of higher education in civic society (Leeds) and the expansion of its accessibility (Open University). Hall makes the repeated call to graduands at these ceremonies to continue to support higher education, and to support others to access the same opportunities that have been offered to them.
